My birthday lunch

I really enjoyed my birthday lunch this year! I used to feel compelled to pick a fancy restaurant with a fancy steak dinner, but in the last few years, I have become more creative with the food I want to eat. This year, I picked a restaurant that not only produces great food, it also has a commitment to local food that is worth paying attention to: everything they serve has been locally produced.

“…there isn’t a single reason why our honey, eggs, and milk has to be better travelled than we are…”

10 Acres Bistro shouldn’t be a marketing plan. It should be what we do as citizens of the world. We should aim to eat local food and create a sustainable local economy. But far too often we trade a sustainable community for tastes from around the world. That’s all very well and great, but we live on an island and there isn’t a single reason why our honey, eggs, and milk has to be better travelled than we are.

So in the middle of the chaos of my life, there was time for my daughter, husband, and me to go an enjoy some local food and a quiet lunch for my birthday. Thank you, sweet family!
