Last night I went to the Victoria Labour Council (VLC) for the HEU representative election. Let me clarify that – I walked to the VLC meeting, 45 minutes away, in the snow. I had every intention of running for the position and winning, and if walking through a blizzard meant my chances increased, that is what I would do. And that’s what I did.
My commitment to the labour movement is strong. And the reward for that commitment is that I won the seat and I am now on the VLC executive. I wanted the spot and I got it. Thank you, blizzard, for testing my resolve.
