Recently I wrote an article on the Reality Distortion Field. Then I was so motivated by the response it received, I made it into a podcast. If you haven’t read it or listened to it, here’s the interesting thing: I make a big deal about decorative burlap.

So why decorative burlap? Well, that’s what I want to know. At what point did burlap – the fabric of the farm – become something kitch and trendy? I mocked it a great deal, which, naturally, means that everywhere I go from now on, I will see burlap used as a pretty decoration.

Case in point, I went for breakfast this morning with my husband and daughter and, sure enough, there’s the burlap table cloth. Organic. Locally-Produced. Decorated with burlap. Expensive.
